Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) officer Dee Apps (L) and her sniffer dog inspect a passenger's luggage at Sydney Airport April 11, 2001. AQIS has responded to heightened foot-and-mouth disease threats devastating the United Kingdom and parts of Europe by deploying additional staff, new and bigger x-ray machines, and has six dog teams in training.
