The Hotel Patria is a historic noble palace in Palermo, located in via Alloro in the Kalsa district, near Piazza Marina. The building, of fifteenth-century origin, owned by Federico Abatellis, was enlarged in the seventeenth century and almost completely rebuilt in the eighteenth century, after an earthquake, by Baldassarre Naselli d'Aragona and for this originally known with the name of "Palazzo Naselli di Aragona" . In the mid-nineteenth century it was transformed by new owners into a hotel, the Aragona hotel, which in 1891 became "hotel Patria", and was one of the most renowned hotels in the city until the Second World War. In 1943 the hotel was closed because the building was partially destroyed by Allied bombing.
