In the night of March 25, 1969, next to the art museum ('Kunsthalle') in Berne, Switzerland, a dune heap with a volume of around one cubic meter was piled up on the steps leading to the building. The intervention by a group of young Bernese is a gift for the exhibition at the 'Kunsthalle' entitled “When Attitudes Become Form. A poster explaining the context of this piece of art called 'Mistificatio' ('Mist' being the German word for dung) or “Dung Memorial” and of its creation: “This dung is real, so-called dung memorial, material: sterquilinium vulgare, four-dimensional approach: smelling art. A piece or art is totally only, if it is total. Copyright by the penning group: GAG-AG, Berne, 24.3.69". At the time of the incident, Swiss Harald Szeemann serves as the art museum director. When his exhibition “When Attitudes Become Form” was decicated to artistic avant-garde received a negative response, Szeemann left Berne.
