Worship at Karli in the Days of Christ, AD 20. One of the finest Buddhist Cave Shrines ever erected in India is that of Karli, between Poona and Bombay, on the top of the Bhor Ghat mountains separating the Deccan plateau from the Konkan plains on the sea-coast. It dates from the second century BC and is in excellent preservation. It has a most remarkable roof of wooden beams still in good order under the real roof of natural rock.
