Image description

The Convict Brick Trail at Cambell Town, Tasmania, Australia. The Trail commemorates the approximataely 75,000 convicts transported from England to Tasmania between 1803 and 1853. Many passed through or worked at Cambell Town. Englishman Joseph Crafts, 1759 - 1839, sentenced to death but commuted to transportation for life for breaking, entering and stealing, arrived in New South Wales on board the Albermarle in 1791. Joseph Crafts (also known as Croft) was eventually pardoned, became a farmer, married Sarah Robinson - another freed convict - and raised a family.
