Mowat collection 5: Apisai fishing, 1968

This film shows a local boy catching fish with a traditional pointed stick. He does this by swimming in shallow water with goggles on and catching them one at a time and stringing them onto a loop on the side of his sarong. Threads wire through fish eyes and then ties them onto the side of his sarong. Boy swimming under water and looking under and around rocks. Carries fish to shore and makes fire with palm leaves. Boy climbing a tree to cut coconuts. Fish cooked on fire and eaten.
