President Ezer Weizman covers his wife, Reuma's eyes as he plays a practical joke on her October 29 during a meeting in their residence discussing the world-wide problem of drug abuse. Weizman, Israel's President with a ceremonial role, has a gift for putting his foot in his mouth, and October 30 apologized but wouldn't repent after a bout of biblical criticism upset Israel's ultra-orthodox Jewish community. Weizman said he thought parts of the Bible were "not very nice" and "not worth reading", and apologized if what he said hurt the feeling of any of the country's citizens.
