Saved by a Goose (Colour Litho)

Saved by a goose. While he was taking fodder from the barn, the sharecropper Pietro Fuser of Mogliano Veneto (Treviso) put one foot in the foul and fell downwards from a height of more than three meters. He would have beaten his head against the hard stones of the underlying pavement, and the consequences of the blow would have been fatal for him, if a big goose had not come to be found right under his head from a pillow to mitigate the violence of the impact. The Fuser got away with minor dents, the palmipede died, on the other hand, a victim of the involuntary sacrifice. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 16 March 1958.
