Image description: Five hours on the Duomo spire. 26-year-old Hans Hofbaner, a former Foreign Legion soldier and fighter in Indochina, wanted to kill himself. Having climbed to the highest spire of the Vienna Cathedral, he threatened to plunge into the void. A mountaineer priest climbed up there three times to convince the young man to change his mind. A long effort, which lasted more than five hours, but in the end the priest succeeded. Crying Hans came down. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 26 December 1954.
