The Winter War 1939-40 (b/w photo)

The Winter War. A military conflict between the Soviet union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion on november 1939 when Soviet infantery crossed the border on the Karelian Isthmus. About 9500 Swedish volunteer soldiers participated in the war. Rovaniemi, North Finland. Here War british correspondent and journalist Ralph Hewins. 1909-1985. He was the author of the book Quisling, Prophet without honor 1965. The biography of the norwegian Nazi collaborator Quisling stirred much contorversy in Norway and the book was described as a falsification of history. In Finland he reported for the British newspaper Daily Mail. January 1940
