Cover of Casabella, N. 569, June 1990, 20th Century, graphic, 31 x 28 cm
Whole artwork view. On a white background, red headline and below a table of contents, written in black with red underlines, and the map of Vicenza, engraved by Frans Hogemberg for the fourth book of the Civitates Orbis Terrarum (Cities of the Earth), by German geographer George Braun, published in Cologne by Gottfried von Kempen in 1588; the ancient map-view, coloured in water Colours and oriented with the north to the bottom, does not realistically describe the monuments reproduced in elevation view, yet marks the position of the Basilica Palladiana (in the middle, beside the column with the Lion of Venice), the Cathedral of the Annunciation (more on the right, near the square with number 35), and the little district beyond Ponte degli Angeli (Angels's Bridge), crossing the river Bacchiglione.
