An Indian sentry, Waziristan, 1919 circa. Photograph by Randolph Bezzant Holmes (1888-1973), North West Frontier, India, 1919 circa. The vast majority of the troops engaged in the suppression of the uprising in Waziristan were Indian. Both the Tochi and Derajat Columns were entirely Indian apart from a section of 4.5 inch howitzers from the Royal Field Artillery and No. 6 Mountain Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery.
