Image description

Creator: César Blanco González The image showcases the great variety of objects we can observe in the Universe. In the foreground we can see an enormous number of stars in our own galaxy ; their colours are a result of their different temperatures. Within this galaxy we can also see a rare supernova, which appears like a bright star but is actually a powerful but shortlived stellar explosion. Additionally, we can see a dim integrated flux nebula (IFN) in the background. All of these objects can only be seen due to the large number of captures that were taken. "Take more than a moment to explore this incredibly rich image and if you are lucky or just patient enough you will also discover a supernova!"
