This street plan of Paris was published in the early years of the French Revolution. At the end of 1789 the National Assembly decided that new 'Departements' would replace old provincial boundaries.
Inset plan of the Departement de Paris. There is a street index down both margins and a list of theatres and public libraries. The title cartouche has a view of the River Seine and figures from Classical mythology.
Inscribed 'Nouveau plan routier de la ville et faubourgs de Paris divise en 48 sections d'apres le Decret de l'Assemblee N.ale.'
