With about 60 million visitors using Australia\'s more than 7,000 accessible beaches each year, a recent poll has found that only 44 percent of Australians will swim between the flags marking the area patrolled by lifesavers, with males being twice as likely as females to swim outside the designated area. The Surf Life Saving Australia is one of the largest volunteer organsiations in the world, whose 98,000 members rescued over 10,000 people last summer on Australian beaches, and gave out 252,000 individual warnings to swimmers, an increase of 40 percent on last year.
