Prehistoric Man. Roughly speaking, the human beings who lived before the dawn of civilisation are referred to as prehistoric. In these early times man undoubtedly underwent many changes, as is indicated by the remains which have been discovered from time to time and classified. Broadly described, however, in these ages he was powerfully built, but probably no more than five feet high, with a savage face, low receding forehead and overhanging brows, a flat nose and large nostrils, pointed ears and bushy hair. He was clothed in the skins of the animals he killed, and armed with the stone axe and arrow, while hunting and fighting was his chief employment.
