Qiian or Mandarin of letters in court dress with tobacco pipe, 18th century. He wears a long gown with embroidered breastplate of a bird. The bead colour and number of peacock feathers on his cap indicate rank. Mandarin en habit de cour. Handcoloured copperplate engraving after an illustration by William Alexander from J-B.
