Landscape depiction of the summer village, Mih-Tutta-Hangkusch, a village of earth lodges high above cliffs overlooking the Missouri River, near Fort Clark. Mandan women are depicted here with their bullboats on the Missouri River. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels.
